Atari Bringing Naked Chef To Nintendo DS

Publisher Atari has announced What's Cooking? with Jamie Oliver, a combination cooking game and interactive cookbook starring English celebrity chef Jamie Oliver (also known as The Naked Chef), exclusively for the Nintendo DS. The game is scheduled to ship in North America in October 2008.

As with Cooking Guide: Can't Decide What to Eat?, which released in Europe in late June, What's Cooking? with Jamie Oliver walks players through preparing dishes and serving up meals with voice recognition support.

In addition to featuring 100 original Jamie Oliver recipes, the software provides an interactive shopping list with ingredients saved from chosen recipes, organizing them by food type to help you get through the supermarket quicker. You can add any extra items you want to the list by using the DS’s touchscreen to write them in, too.

The game’s creative mode encourages players to use hundreds of ingredients to create their own recipes. Up too 100 user-created recipes can be saved and shared with friends online.

What's Cooking? with Jamie Oliver also offers cooking games in which players can use the stylus to chop, stir, and serve meals in virtual 3D kitchen settings. Players can challenge their friends to a cook-off or race to complete a recipe before time runs out, all while trying to keep quality and taste in mind.
