Wii Fit Defeats SoulCalibur in UK Charts

Nintendo’s Wii Fit has enjoyed its third consecutive week at number one in the UK charts, following its first full restock since launching in April.

Sales of Wii Fit were up 35 percent on the previous week, with the similarly replenished Mario Kart Wii at number two up 25 percent. The continued strong sales of both games was enough to hold off new entry SoulCalibur IV.

Namco Bandai’s SoulCalibur IV, published in the UK by Ubisoft, did manage to top the combined format charts and also became the fastest-selling entry in the series so far in the UK.

The Xbox 360 version entered at number three in the individual format chart, with 56 percent of overall sales, while the PlayStation 3 version came in at number six, outselling the first week of the PlayStation 2 exclusive SoulCalibur III by more than three to one.

There were no other genuine new entries in the top forty, although renewed stock of Konami’s Sports Island (aka Deca Sports) did see the game re-enter the charts at number twenty-six. The Xbox 360 version of Call Of Duty 4 also reappeared at number thirty-three and 42 All-Time Classics (aka Clubhouse Games re-entered at number thirty-nine.

Overall, in the top forty there were 17 Nintendo DS titles, 13 for the Wii, five for the Xbox 360, four for the PlayStation 3, one for the PlayStation 2 and zero for the PSP and PC.
