Renegade Kid, Gamecock Team For New Wii IP

Developer Renegade Kid (Moon, Dementium: The Ward)announced that it is working with publisher Gamecock Media Group on a new title set in a "fantasy Gothic" universe and based on "one of the biggest horror icons of all time."

The Austin-based developer promised to reveal the game's name and plot at a later date, but a recent report posted at Gamasutra sister site GameSetWatch suggested that Renegade Kid is working on a project named Son Of The Dragon.

Considering that "son of the dragon" translates into "Dracula" in Romanian, one could presume that the game would be based on Vlad Ţepeş, or Vlad the Impaler, the figure who served as inspiration for Bram Stoker's novel Dracula.

Though Renegade Kid also declined to specify which system the upcoming title will appear on, it is widely speculated that the game will be released for the Wii, as the studio was actively seeking designers for a Wii project in May 2008.

The developer promises a change in gameplay, genre, and style with the new game in comparison to its prior projects. Renegade Kid previously worked with Gamecock on Dementium: The Ward, a survival-horror, first-person shooter for the Nintendo DS released in October 2007.

Says Renegade Kid owner and creative director Jools Watsham: "Our first venture with Gamecock, Dementium, was an ideal partnership for us. Our new game has been a 'pet project' of ours for a while now, and it not only felt natural but necessary that we team up with Gamecock again. We’re really looking forward to working with these talented folks again."
