Wwise developer Audiokinetic announced a new addition to its product family, SoundSeed, a modular family of game audio sound generators capable of creating what the company claims is "an unlimited quality" of variations out of one single "footprint" sound.

SoundSeed enables developers to create varied audio environments, while, according to Audiokinetic, keeping runtime memory usage and recording and production costs at a minimum.

The suite will provide a series of modules aimed at generating sound variations, each using a specific technology adapted to a specific type of sound.

The first module, SoundSeed Impact, can be used to create variations of resonant impact sounds, such as sword clings, footsteps, bells, etc. Audiokinetic promises to deliver Impact shortly and is already working on creating additional modules.

"Too often, sound designers must set aside their creativity in order to comply with memory usage or recording costs constraints," says Audiokinetic CEO and president André Nadeau. "SoundSeed breaks this paradigm."
