Berlin, Germany-based Frogster Online Gaming will use GNi's "infrastructure as a service" hosting for its free-to-play MMORPG Runes of Magic, the company announced today.
Frogster says GNi's experience in the MMO arena helped inform its decision; GNi is also set to provide the hosting infrastructure for id Software's free-to-play multiplayer Quake Live.
Runes of Magic, developed by Taiwanese studio Runewaker, is created "according to Western standards" across a three-year time frame. It'll feature over 1000 quests, and Frogster says the studio will provide free add-ons, updates and new content every three to four months.
The title's beta is currently being hosted in GNi's Frankfurt Data Center, and the companies' plan is to deploy it across GNi's other data centers as the testing period ends and the game gets an official global launch.
"GNi was a logical choice for us to host Runes of Magic because of their experience in MMOG game hosting, and flexible infrastructure which ensures uncompromised play for our registered players," says Frogster CEO Andreas Weidenhaupt.
