Former Microsoft exec Chris Satchell, best known as chief architect for the XNA platform, has landed the role of CTO at gaming systems tech company IGT, the company announced today.

A 17-year industry veteran, Satchell was also director of engineering at Microsoft Game Studios, and has also held technical and engineering exec roles at the 3DO Company and Silicon Dreams.

He'll now directly oversee IGT's Information Systems team, research and development, and the company's advanced software architecture group. IGT specializes in design, development, manufacturing, distribution and sales of computerized gaming machines and systems products.

"Chris brings a long history of success and great depth of technical expertise to IGT," says IGT president and CEO Patti Hart.

"He will play an instrumental role in shaping our strategic and tactical technological vision and refocusing our internal technology support on many levels within the organization."
