EALA Confirms Command & Conquer 4

Electronic Arts today announced the "epic conclusion" of its Tiberium real-time strategy series with Command & Conquer 4 for the PC, slated to ship in 2010.

EA says the game, which is being developed at Electronic Arts Los Angeles, will build on the franchise's core mechanics by adding class-based gameplay and mobile bases, and also promises player progression that persists across all the game's modes.

The conclusion of the seminal RTS series, which was originally developed at Las Vegas-based studio Westwood, acquired by EA in 1998, will be set following the events of the previous installment, Command & Conquer 3: Tiberium Wars, in the year 2062.

The game world's two main factions are tasked with stopping Tiberium, a "mysterious crystalline structure", from destroying the Earth, as the ten-year plan of faction leader Kane finally draws to fruition.

"Command & Conquer is a powerful franchise with an amazing 15-year legacy. We are thrilled to bring the dramatic Tiberium saga to a conclusion in Command & Conquer 4," says lead producer Mike Glosecki.

"With its objective-based multiplayer mode, persistent player progression and all-in-one mobile base, players will experience Command & Conquer like never before."
