As a person that gave free realms a try I have to say that there population numbers only reflect registered users. It in no way reflects the amount of people that stick with the game. The game is setup to be very user friendly, but too easy for any hardcore player. It was able to hold my attention for about 1 month, and the conversations on the forums seem to be begging for more content. at best only 50% of the new subscribers stick with it past the first month.

Smedley's comment agreeing with Kim about the chat room moderator brings back old memories of him when he moderated forums in Everquest. Its been years but ill never forget his meltdowns, and his extreme tactics on the forums. I hope they named that Item after him.

Well i've been enjoying SOE's "Free Realms" since the closed beta period. With every million registered user milestone achieved SOE has given a goodie package to every player. Still registered users is a nice figure but the real "meat & potato" numbers are behind the real active users. Of those how many as a sub set are actually putting money into the game itself? (no one will know publicly) But do notice recently SOE has laid off 40+ employees due to the economic climate. (although none on the "Free Realms" staff) Besides soon to take offline "Matrix Online" as a unsuccessful Mmorpg by their discretion.

Been playin Free Realms all summer, and it has to be one of the coolest MMOGs that's I've played in years. Sony's always offering up new items too, which keeps things fresh for the playas.
The latest item I bought was a ninja mask for my dude. Looks pretty sweet, especially when I'm taking down punks in Briarwood. LOL You can find the ninja masks here: freerealms.com/article/detail.action?articleId=160 Definitely looking forward to the Free Reams comics too. Hope it will shed more light on the FR mythology and give players some cool treats too :P |
