Thanks to a partnership between Nintendo and LucasArts, the Super Nintendo games Super Star Wars, Super Star Wars: The Empire Strikes Back and Super Star Wars: Return of the Jedi are coming to Wii's Virtual Console.
The first digitally distributed Super Star Wars game to arrive on Nintendo's Wii Shop Channel will be the original Super Star Wars, the 1992 Super NES 2D platformer. Other games in the series will arrive on undisclosed dates.
Nintendo said additional classic LucasArts games will come to Virtual Console in the future, although the company did not announce any specific titles.
Nintendo also said it is bringing Star Wars content to the Wii community, launching a contest on the Check Mii Out Channel that asks players to create Miis that look like Star Wars characters, and Star Wars-related polls on the Everybody Votes Channel.
"Virtual Console on Wii is a great way to make these games available to our fans again, and it's an awesome opportunity to expose our classic console titles to an entirely new audience," said Darrell Rodriguez, president of LucasArts.
There are currently over 300 Virtual Console games available to download in North America for Wii.
