Konami has maintained its iron grip on the top of the sales chart this week, with World Soccer Winning Eleven 8
switching back to the number one placing. Although it sold only 27,000 units during the time period, the game is well on course to become the most successful iteration of the franchise yet – which bodes well for Konami’s re-branding of the game as Pro Evolution Soccer 4
for the soccer-hungry European market.
Sony’s unusual virtual pet/communication title Toro to Ippai
is the highest new entry this mouth, but could only manage 19,000 unit sales. UbiSoft’s Prince of Persia: The Sands Of Time
made a relatively strong impact, for a Western release, with around 14,000 units sold.
For the fourth week in a row the Game Boy Advance led hardware sales, with a market share of 47.13 percent, followed by the PlayStation 2 at 43.87 percent, the GameCube at 8.37 percent and the Xbox at 0.44 percent.
