Electronic Arts executive vice president and chief creative officer Bing Gordon has been named as the first holder of the Electronic Arts Endowed Faculty Chair at the USC School of Cinema-Television.
Resident in the School's Division of Interactive Media, the Electronic Arts Endowed Faculty Chair is a rotating position that will be held for one to two years by leading figures in interactive entertainment that will join the school's faculty as visiting professors.
Bing, who has played a role in a number of the most important Electronic Arts titles, has already pioneered several educational initiatives at EA, including the Emerging Leaders, Creative Leaders and the EA Executive Development programs. He is also a leader in the company's college outreach program, which brings summer interns to the company from top colleges and universities around the world.
The appointment of Bing follows an $8 million donation from Electronic Arts to the university last year. The money was used to create a specific three-year master's degree program in videogame design, and fund the endowed faculty chair which Bing now occupies.
