Feature: 'GDCTV: Rolling the Dice - The Risks and Rewards of Developing Katamari Damacy'
Gamasutra is proud to present GDCTV, a new section showcasing streaming high-quality video content of some of the notable sessions of this year's Game Developers Conference.
In this second edition, in a format that includes streaming video with accompanying slides, we present Keita Takahashi's "Rolling the Dice:The Risks and Rewards of Developing Katamari Damacy
", his GDC 2005 lecture originally described as follows:
"Keita Takahashi made his directorial debut with the quirky sleeper hit Katamari Damacy. The game presents players with a refreshingly unique, genre-defying game design, in which the player rolls game objects into an ever-increasing ball, while working against the clock. In this session, Takahashi-san gives an inside look into how he conceived, developed, and shepherded the game through Namco's corporate system."
