Canadian-headquartered NeverWinter Nights and Jade Empire developer BioWare has announced a competition to become a professional writer for the company, with entrants asked to create a Neverwinter Nights module to tell their story using the Aurora Toolset.

BioWare's Director of Design James Ohlen and Assistant Director of Design Kevin Barrett will then judge the entries, which must be in by January 30th, 2006. Winners will be announced the last week of February 2006.

The company, which was recently subsumed by private equity firm Elevation Partners into a new holding company called BioWare/Pandemic Studios, alongside Destroy All Humans! developer Pandemic, has often recruited from its community, listing a number of hires that have occurred through modding of its games.

The top eight submissions will be reviewed by BioWare senior staff members with the intent on finding and hiring talented writers, with BioWare looking to hire both from its fan community and from writers who can demonstrate a good use of its toolset, specifically looking at "the characters, the dialogue, the plot, the non-linear structure, and the flow and pace of the story."

Winners will also receive prizes from the BioWare Online Store, including a BioWare wool cap, soundtracks, and premium modules for NeverWinter Nights, and more information is available at the official BioWare competition page.
