Webzen Inc., a Korea-headquartered game publisher, has announced plans to work with U.S.-based developer Red 5 for a new MMORPG. Webzen's deal gives the company the exclusive worldwide rights to publish and distribute the game.

Red 5 Studios is the development company founded in 2005 by former members of Blizzard's World of Warcraft development team, including former team leader Mark Kern and former art director William Petras. Little has been announced about the game save for the company's use of the Offset game engine in development.

"Webzen and Red 5 Studios share the same vision and passion to create next generation online games that can successfully suit the tastes and demands of gamers worldwide," said Webzen CEO Nam Ju Kim. "We are confident that projects such as these will help Webzen reach its goal of becoming a top global online games publisher."

No further details on the game, such as a target release date or platform, have yet been announced, and it's believed that the title is still relatively early in development. Webzen's other major MMO titles include Sun, the Unreal Engine-powered Huxley, and Grand Theft Auto creator David Jones' APB.
