Turner Broadcasting System has announced that it is reducing its price for its GameTap subscription PC 'all you can eat' gaming service, which currently offers over 400 licensed video games for download and play on demand. The service will now be available for the monthly fee of $9.95, down from the previous launch price of $14.95 a month.

GameTap is concentrating on both classic PC gaming content and newer titles, and has licensed games from major and minor publishers and content creators including Activision, Atari, Eidos Interactive, G-Mode, Intellivision Lives, Midway, Namco, Sega, Taito, Team 17, Ubisoft, Vivendi Universal Games, Codemasters, Cyan, Ironstone, Taurus Media, Electronic Arts, Capcom, Take-Two Interactive Software, First Star Software, Dreamcatcher Interactive, Knowledge Adventure, 3000AD, SNK, Interplay, and Telegames.

The company has also announced that it is expanding its GameTap service with GameTap TV, a new broadband video streaming network built into GameTap, which previously had set videos screening inside the client every week. Featuring over 250 videos on demand, this builds upon the existing in-game service significantly.

The service will feature a music video channel, a games channel that lets viewers preview the latest games on the network, and an originals channel for programming specifically recorded for GameTap TV. There is even an animation channel set to go live this spring that will feature an original series of animated shorts.

"Broadband entertainment is a brave new world, and as industry leaders, we're taking it in brave new directions," said Stuart Snyder, GameTap's General Manager. "By boasting the largest library of on-demand games coupled with original shows all at the right price, GameTap is at the forefront of broadband entertainment and culture."
