Former game programmer, designer, and creator of Sierra On-Line's Leisure Suit Larry franchise Al Lowe may be returning to the games industry after nearly seven years in semi-retirement, according to vague details of an upcoming press conference.

A press conference invitation sent out to select members of the press, bearing a logo reading "Ecstasy Island Mystery Week," suggests that Lowe may be heading a new development studio.

"Alloweha," says the invitation. "A new company with a new game is Launching at E3 under the watch of a Legendary game designer known for creating Outrageously fun games that feature hi-Larry-ous characters With an undeniable knack for Entertaining millions of people," it continues, emphasized letters included.

Gamasutra interviewed Al Lowe last July, and asked if he would consider returning to the games industry. “Oh, absolutely. I would love to do another game,” he said at the time. “I’ve got some great ideas to bring comedy back. I was so happy to see Psychonauts, and I really think we need more of that kind of game. If I could find a publisher to give my ideas a chance, I’d jump right back into it.”

The press event is set to take place on the evening of Tuesday, May 9th. It is unknown at this time whether "Ecstacy Island" is the name of this "new company," a game project headed by Lowe, or something else entirely.
