Square Enix, Inc., the company's North American publishing arm, announced a North American partnership with U.S. MVNO Amp’d Mobile for Dirge of Cerberus: Lost Episode – Final Fantasy VII. The game will be available exclusively on Amp’d mobile handsets during summer 2006.

Dirge of Cerberus: Lost Episode – Final Fantasy VII is an action RPG that takes place three years after Meteorfall, where the original Final Fantasy VII ended, with Vincent Valentine struggling to save the world from the evil Deepground Soldiers, a mysterious army of bloodthirsty soldiers. The game will feature a number of different modes, including a FPS battle mode, as well as familiar features lifted from Final Fantasy VII such as materia and limit break attacks.

The title will initially be released a single player only mode, with a multiplayer function launching at a later date. While more details have yet to be announced, the multiplayer mode will offer online head-to-head action with other Amp’d Mobile players over the mobile network.

"We met with Square Enix at last year’s Qualcomm BREW conference and immediately targeted this title as an exclusive on Amp’d,” said Seth Cummings, Senior Vice President, Content, Amp’d Mobile. “We’re excited to announce deployment of Final Fantasy on Amp’d one year later. Our commitment to deploying only best-of-breed titles is exemplified by our partnership with Square Enix and we look forward to collaborating on future deployments."
