Located on a lush, 24-acre residential campus on Florida's Gulf Coast, Ringling School of Art and Design is a fully accredited four-year college of visual arts and design. Approximately 880 students from throughout the world pursue the Bachelor of Fine Arts degree (B.F.A.) in six majors: Computer Animation, Fine Arts, Graphic & Interactive Communication, Illustration, Interior Design, and Photography & Digital Imaging.
The B.F.A. curriculum is a four-year sequence of studio art, art history, and liberal arts courses with concentration in studio work. Studio faculty members are professional artists and designers who are actively committed to their own work as well as to teaching. The art faculty numbers 102 (45 full-time, 57 part-time), 70% of whom have terminal degrees. Graduate students do not teach undergraduate courses. Undergraduate student-faculty ratio is 11.3 to 1.
Students begin their studies in the foundation program, concentrating on the development of basic drawing and design skills. They begin to specialize in their major fields in the sophomore year.
Ringling School of Art and Design emphasizes professional portfolio development and career preparation and provides extensive career-related services for students and alumni.
