Upon returning to the US, he worked as a games programmer for Kronos Digital Entertainment in Pasadena, California. It was at this time that he became fascinated with software and pursued an MS and Ph.D. in computer science at Nova Southeastern University. During his graduate studies, Kerbs worked as a Computer Systems Administrator at the California Institute of Technology (Caltech). The combination of his academic and real-world experience has afforded him the opportunity to teach in the ever-evolving field of computer science.
