BVG Reveals Lumines II Soundtrack, Music Videos

Buena Vista Games (BVG), the interactive entertainment arm of The Walt Disney Company, has announced details of the soundtrack and music videos (a first for handhelds) that will appear in the upcoming PSP puzzle game Lumines II, which is being created by Tetsuya Mizuguchi's Q Entertainment.

Lumines II is, of course, the sequel to last year's popular puzzle title Lumines, which many still consider to be one of the must-own titles on the PSP. The game has players controlling squares made of four smaller block pieces that are dropped into the playing field, one at a time, to form same-color rectangles.

Each level in the game, like the original, will feature its own musical theme and sound effects. Music videos confirmed for the game include:

- Beck - "Black Tambourine"
- Black Eyed Peas - "Pump It"
- Chemical Brothers - "Star Guitar"
- Fatboy Slim - "Gangster Trippin'"
- The Go! Team - "Bottle Rocket"
- Gwen Stefani - "Hollaback Girl"
- Hoobastank - "Born to Lead"
- Junior Senior - "Take My Time"
- Missy Elliott - "Lose Control"
- New Order - TBD
- Junkie XL - "Breezer"
- Stigmato Inc - "Reality Check"

Lumines II will also feature music written exclusively for the game by Japanese artist Shinichi Osawa, also known as Mondo Grosso, who provided the opening track for the original Lumines. Tracks from Ken Ishii (DJ/producer) and Techriders, both from Japan, will also be featured in the game.

Lumines II is just one of four titles from Q Entertainment announced in April to be published by BVG. Other confirmed releases include Every Extend Extra for the PSP, Lumines Plus for the PlayStation 2, and Meteos: Disney Edition, a new take on the action puzzle game featuring Disney characters for the Nintendo DS. The titles will be published by BVG in all international regions except Asia, where the games' publisher is not yet officially confirmed.

"In order to showcase my vision for Lumines II, we needed to find music and videos with just the right tone, mix and energy to incorporate into the game," said Tetsuya Mizuguchi. "I couldn't be happier with the result and am excited to get the game into players' hands."
