Round Up: Left Behind In Europe, Top PC Sellers, WoW Contest

Today's Gamasutra round-up includes news of Left Behind Games seeking European distribution partners, the top selling PC titles for the week ending July 15, 2006, and a new World of Warcraft contest by Xfire, as well as the latest GameSetWatch posts, product news, and Gamasutra job postings.

Left Behind Games announced that it is working with unnamed European distributors to secure shelf space for the upcoming release of the PC strategy game Left Behind: Eternal Forces. Recently appointed senior vice president David Klein is leading the effort. Left Behind: Eternal Forces is expected to ship to stores this October. "Based on the popularity of the Left Behind book series, we believe Left Behind: Eternal Forces will be well received by European fans," said Troy Lyndon, CEO, Left Behind Games. "David has been building bridges to European distributors for more than 20 years. His experience will be an invaluable asset in getting our game on store shelves across Europe."

The NPD Group has released the 10 best-selling PC games for the week ending July 15. Blizzard's popular MMORPG World Of Warcraft topped the list for the week, followed by Cars Radiator Springs Adventures. EA's The Sims 2 was the third most selling game on the chart, followed by The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion and the recently released first-person shooter Prey. Titan Quest ranked seventh on the list, sandwiched between a pair expansion packs for The Sims 2 - Open For Business and Family Fun Stuff - which ranked sixth and eighth respectively. The list was rounded out by THQ's value priced Paws & Claws Pet Vet and NCsoft's MMO Guild Wars Factions.

Online gaming communication and community platform Xfire and Blizzard Entertainment announced a new movie contest featuring popular MMORPG World of Warcraft. The Blizzard Xfire World of Warcraft Summer Movie Contest invites entrants from the United States, Canada, and Europe to create movies using the game and submit them in one of four categories: Short Film, Comedy, Music Video/Dance, and Drama/Action. A total of $23,000 in prizes will be awarded during the contest to entrants submitting the best movies. Details about the contest can be found on the contest's official site.
