Quazal, makers of the Net-Z, Rendez-Vous and Spark! online multiplayer middleware today announced that Midway has licensed Quazal’s Rendez-Vous and Spark! lobby and matchmaking technologies for use in multiple upcoming titles.
According to a statement announcing the agreement, the license allows Quazal's Spark! ‘lobby in a box’ for PC and console development and Rendez-Vous matchmaking service to be used both in games developed internally by Midway, as well as titles created by third parties.
“We intend to deliver a really solid multiplayer online experience across our next generation titles,” commented Midway's chief technical officer Michael Weilbacher.
Both of these middleware solutions are designed by Quazal to work together to allow developers a one stop solution for implementing their lobby and matchmaking features. Targeting cross-platform parity, Quazal Spark! offers the most necessary features for online gaming, including authentication, friends lists, matchmaking and statistics reporting in a skinnable user interface, as well as full error handling.
“It’s great to be a technology provider to Midway for several titles,” said Mike Drummelsmith, Developer Relations Manager at Quazal. “It’s a pleasure to be available as a component for Midway’s exciting lineup of upcoming games.”
