Round Up: Sam & Max On 'Tap, Radiance Digital, Les Seules

Today's round-up includes news of Sam & Max launching on GameTap in October, Radiance partnering with U.S. game companies, and a French all girl Counter Strike clan touring three U.S. cities, as well as the latest Game Career Guide updates, Serious Games Source posts, GameSetWatch posts and Gamasutra job postings.

- Representatives from GameTap, Turner's subscription-based digital game rental service, announced today that Sam & Max Episode 1: Culture Shock, the first installment in Telltale's new series of games based on the popular comedic detectives, will be released over the service on October 17, GameTap's first anniversary. In addition, new episodes of the series are scheduled to launch each month starting in December and running through April. Each episode will be available to GameTap subscribers as part of the monthly subscription rate of $9.95. Fifteen days after each month's debut on GameTap, the episodes will also be available for purchase for customers worldwide from the Telltale Games website.

- Shanghai-based Radiance Digital Entertainment has announced its U.S. Game Development Program. As part of the program, Radiance will partner with publishers and online game operators in the United States to focus on establishing a production-centric management system. The company also plans to offer its own production processes and technologies to these partners, highlighting teamwork and personnel based in China. Radiance's current project is Beach Volleyball Online, an online sports game that, while currently available for the PC, is also being designed for the PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360. "The value of Radiance is the people in China who hold years of artistic creativity and are skilled at overcoming the abundant technological challenges in the game development industry," commented Aryeh Richmond, vice president of business development. "Our U.S. Game Development Program is specifically designed for publishers that want to take advantage of the vast ingenuity and experience within our region."

- Les Seules, an all female Counter Strike clan based out of France, announced that the group has begun a worldwide tour that will include three stops in the United States. The team, whose name translates to “the outsiders” in French, will also document their tour in a ten-part reality series entitled “Play Us.” The women made their first stop in New York City earlier today, and will move on to Las Vegas on Tuesday, September 12 at the Aladdin Resort & Casino, and then make an appearance on September 17 at Cyber Java in Los Angeles. Les Seules notes that it plans to “be revamped into the best-trained and focused team in a male-dominated gaming world during their tour,” which will take them to a variety of continents and ten international cities, including Tokyo, Shenzhen (China), Bangkok, Kuala Lumpur, Berlin, Paris and London.

- The latest updates on Gamasutra sister alt.gaming weblog GameSetWatch include a collection of 'amazing' video game related rumors, the evolution of game narrative discussed, and video game references in The New Yorker exposed.
