Product: Mobile Distillery's Celsius Licensed By Visiware

Java mobile porting software company Mobile Distillery has announced a three-year agreement with leading interactive television organization Visiware, which sees the company licensing Celsius V3 open architecture software to assist in porting existing and future Java games to European, US and Canadian handsets.

Under the agreement, Visiware will use the Celsius V3 software to port over its games onto mobile devices over three years, thus playing a key role in Visiware's goal of supplying content across television, broadband, and mobile platforms.

Aimed at developers and publishers of J2ME mobile applications, Celsius addresses the time and expense associated with the porting of applications to mobile devices. Celsius aims to dramatically reduce porting time and subsequently accelerate time to market, giving customers competitive advantage as well as significant cost savings.

Access to Celsius' 'handset behavior and bugs' database of over 450 global handsets, through its pre-processor and optimizers, provides developers with an attractive competitive advantage, gaining time and reducing cost. Using this solution, Visiware's developers no longer need to tailor source code for each handset available. Once written, the Celsius software processes the source code into the best quality and optimized Java jar/jad for each handset, taking care of keyboard mapping management, text and fonts, sprites, sounds, http connection, and accessing heap memory.

"Having access to the Celsius software enables our contractors and developers to operate within a powerful, unified development framework,” commented Visiware's executive chairman Laurant Weill. “We need to produce multitudes of builds under stringent time constraints and Mobile Distillery is helping us make the game porting process faster and manageable across our network of partners and clients.”
