Lost Planet , WarioWare Triumph In UK Charts

The first two major new releases of the year have achieved better than expected success in the new UK weekly sales charts, with Capcom’s Lost Planet following last year’s Dead Rising with another number one debut. It is the fifth Xbox exclusive title to reach the number one spot in Britain, after Dead or Alive 4, Saints Row, Dead Rising and Gears of War.

The new release of WarioWare: Smooth Moves on the Wii has also done unexpectedly well, especially given the console’s small userbase and the previously mediocre performance of other games in the series in the UK, where WarioWare Twisted! was never even released.

WarioWare’s success has been aided by an 85% increase in hardware availability this week, which has also helped sales of Twilight Princess and seen Wii Play re-enter the charts at number nineteen and Red Steel at number thirty-four.

The only other new entry in the top forty is Sega’s World Snooker Championship 2007 at number seventeen, which will be known as World Pool Championship 2007 upon its release in the U.S.
