Hideo Kojima, Suda51 Working on 'Sdatcher' Radio Drama

Hideo Kojima, Suda51 Working on 'Sdatcher' Radio Drama

July 8, 2011 | By Kyle Orland

The next project from Metal Gear Solid creator Hideo Kojima and No More Heroes creator Goichi Suda (a.k.a. Suda51) won't be a game, but a radio drama based on Kojima's cult hit adventure title Snatcher.

A announcement of the project (translated by Andriasang) lists Kojima as planner, director and creator on the project, with Grasshopper Manufacture's Suda working on the script.

Grasshopper's Akira Yamaoka will provide help with the script, according to the report, with Snatcher artist Satoshi Yoshioka working on illustrations and character design.

Sdatcher is part of Project S, a Snatcher-centered collaboration between Grasshopper and Kojima that has been in the works since at least 2008. The drama will debut on the 300th edition of Kojima's Hideradio podcast, which saw its 296th episode today.

Fans have been eager for a sequel to the cyberpunk, Blade Runner-inspired Snatcher since its release on the Japanese PC-8801 in 1988.

The game received ports for the Japanese MSX2, PC-Engine, Sega CD, Saturn, and PlayStation, though the Sega CD version was the only one to be localized for English-speaking markets in 1994. That localization saw a limited production run and sales, leading second-hand copies to sell for inflated prices over 15 years later.
