New Montreal Start-Up Focuses On 'Retro Games With A Twist'

September 8, 2011 | By Frank Cifaldi

Montreal-based game industry veterans have formed a new retro-themed studio and are set to release their first title for both Xbox Live Indie Games and PC.

The studio is called Tribute Games Inc., and was founded by Ubisoft and Eidos veterans Justin Cyr, Jonathan Lavigne and Jean-Francois Major.

Together the trio claims over thirty years of combined experience, with shipped titles including Deus Ex: Human Revolution, Scott Pilgrim vs. The World and Shaun White Snowboarding, among others.

The studio's first game, Wizorb, is an Arkanoid-inspired block breaking game with a fantasy theme.

Contributing animation to the title is Paul Robertson, who previously worked on Ubisoft's Scott Pilgrim vs. The World.

The debut trailer for Wizorb is viewable here.
