Mega Man creator Keiji Inafune has revealed the first console game in development from his new Intercept studio.

King of Pirates -- KAIO in Japan -- is an action adventure title for Nintendo 3DS, set on the high seas and due for release in Japan sometime next year.

Although the website notes that only a Japan release is planned at the moment, there is an English-translated section, suggesting that a translation may come later.

Inafune explained, "What I want KAIO to visualise is 'human appeal' itself. What is beyond the 'right and wrong' or the 'good and bad?'"

He noted that there is "still some work to be done before completion."

Inafune founded new game production company Intercept earlier this year, along with a previously-revealed business and planning organization called Comcept.
