Report: Foundation 9 Cuts Staff, Dirty Harry Changes Studios

According to new online reports, Foundation 9 has laid off 30 members of the staff of The Collective, following a decision to transition development of the Dirty Harry licensed game to a new studio.

Consumer site GameSpot, talking with an anonymous source "close to Foundation 9," reported the layoffs, with a Foundation 9 spokesperson responding simply that efforts were under way to "optimize" development within the company.

Said the rep, "When this optimization leads to job loss at one studio, we make every effort to find a place for displaced employees at another of our studios. Foundation 9 is currently hiring for 40 positions in our studios across North America and is still in a state of growth with more than 30 projects in development."

After the source also mentioned that the Warner Bros team overseeing the Dirty Harry project was also "dissolved," Warner Bros. Interactive senior vice president Samantha Ryan told GameSpot that the company was "moving forward with the Dirty Harry next generation videogames and will be changing our development plans in keeping with the best interest of the franchise legacy."

A second source "close to WBIE" confirmed that the game was in transition to another developer, but could not confirm which studio would be at the helm, whether WBIE-owned Monolith Productions or not.
