Eidos Acquires Mobile Game Developer Morpheme

Major publisher and developer Eidos has announced that the company has acquired North London based mobile and casual games developer Morpheme Wireless Limited (Everything Explodes), adding the company's assets and eight staff members to Eidos' New Media division.
Prior to the acquisition, Morpheme had enjoyed a working relationship with Eidos, having developed the mobile version of Eidos' hit stealth action franchise Hitman, as well as the recently announced new mobile game IP, Prism: Light the Way.
The news follows other recent acquisitions for the British publisher's New Media division. The company announced in February that it had reached an agreement to acquire British wireless developer Rockpool Games, recognized for wireless versions of a number of prominent properties such as Worms and MotoGP, as well as Rockpool’s two sister companies, Ironstone Partners and SoGoPlay.
In March, the company also brought online distribution firm Bluefish Media into the New Media fold. Bluefish specializes in casual game distribution from companies like MumboJumbo, Reflexive, and PopCap, runs popular German casual game site Gamepueblo.com, and has offices in both Bonn and Los Angeles.
"We've worked with Morpheme on a number of successful games already, so we know how well we work together," said Simon Protheroe, new media and IT director at Eidos. "It's great to have Matt and his team on board in a deal which fully complements our existing development resources."
