Factor 5 and Divx Networks Release Divx for Gamecube

Divx video compression is now available to Gamecube developers.

Developed by Factor 5, the studio known for the Rogue Squadron games and Musyx audio tools, in conjunction with Divx Networks, the Divx for Gamecube SDK offers developers a new option for cinematics and video playback on Gamecube.

The Divx for Gamecube SDK offers DVD-like quality at file sizes 7-10 times smaller than MPEG-2, support for DivX 5.02 Pro video technology including pyschovisual modeling, bi-directional encoding, and global motion compensation, encoding speeds 2-3 time faster than real-time, Gamecube optimized assembler-code using both CPU and graphics chip in parallel, the ability to map video on any surface and run in parallel with other applications, and integration with Factor 5's Musyx and AX sound libraries for audio streaming.

The Divx for Gamecube SDK is available for license from Divx Networks.
