Independent developer Metanet Software has confirmed that versions of its flagship Independent Games Festival Audience Award-winning ninja platformer N+ is being readied for release by publisher Atari on the Nintendo DS and PSP in fall of this year.
Dubbed N+, Metanet has said that the game is in production by external developers Silverbirch Studios for both portable platforms, and that the Atari-funded portable versions will include as yet unspecified "pretty cool new features and graphics."
Currently still playable in its original PC/Mac Flash-based form, N is a heavily physics-driven platformer Metanet describes as "reminiscent of Lode Runner" with a gold-thirsty ninja "running around in a puzzle-y world inhabited by enemies."
In January, Metanet also announced that a version of N+ was coming to the Xbox Live Arcade with the help of the Vancouver-based Eets developer Klei Entertainment.
That version is said to contain a number of enhancements as well, including a level editor that will let players make and exchange levels, as well as the possibility of a multiplayer mode. Presumably a number of the same features will make their way to the portable version.
Metanet also confirmed on its news page that work continues on its second title, Robotology, starring a wire-swinging robot using 'parkour-inspired acrobatics,' with a development blog apparently nearing completion in the very near future.
