Hardware-accelerated physics technology provider Ageia Technlogies has announced an expanded licensing and support model for its PhysX SDK, with the aim of better meeting the needs of its developer base.
The Ageia PhysX SDK binaries will still be offered royalty-free, and the PhysX SDK source code is licensed at $50,000 per application. The support model covers game profiling and optimization for console, multi-core and PPU augmented with both off-site and on-site support options.
PhysX software supports PC, Playstation 3, Xbox 360, and Wii. According to Ageia, there are currently over 10,000 registered and active developers using AGEIA PhysX technology.
"We're proud to see the heightened acceptance and recognition of PhysX in the gaming marketplace," said Manju Hegde, CEO of AGEIA. "By drawing on the AGEIA support during the game development process, developers will be able to harness the power of physics that will lead to new and innovative physics implementations that many of us haven't even yet thought of."
