Capcom Debuts Okami For Wii, Dark Void , More

Following the surprise announcement of Street Fighter IV and an update for the Bionic Commando franchise, Japanese publisher Capcom has officially announced the rest of its new titles - including an original intellectual property, two new ports and another update of a classic franchise.

Perhaps the most significant announcement was new IP Dark Void, although much like the previous Street Fighter IV unveiling, few details were given about the game, beyond the developer being Crimson Skies creator Airtight Games. The two games appear to share an aerial theme, with Dark Void featuring a jet pack-equipped main character and a variety of airship battles.

Also announced for the first time is a PlayStation 3 version of popular Xbox 360 and PC title Lost Planet: Extreme Condition, in addition to a Wii version of the critically acclaimed but commercially unsuccessful PlayStation 2 title Okami. With Capcom having closed down original development studio Clover, the Wii version of the game will be undertaken by Daxter developer Ready at Dawn.

Indeed, almost all of Capcom’s recent announcements are to be developed by third party Western studios, with Bomberman Live developers Backbone Emeryville creating Commando 3 for Xbox 360 and PlayStation Network download, with the game featuring predominantly Western-style artwork.

Other previously announced titles featured during Capcom’s London-based presentation include Zack & Wiki, Resident Evil: The Umbrella Chronicles and We Love Golf! for the Wii; Mega Man ZX Advent and Ace Attorney: Apollo Justice for Nintendo DS; Devil May Cry 4 for PlayStation 3, Xbox 360 and PC; and Super Street Fighter II Turbo HD Remix, Talisman and Rocketmen for digital download.
