Newsbrief: Electronic Arts has opened a second development studio in Sweden, which will be devoted to creating "a new generation of games" using the Frostbite 2 game engine.

Located in the country's second-largest city, Gothenburg, the new studio will make its games using the same engine that powered last year's Battlefield 3 and Need for Speed: The Run. EA Gothenburg opened some time in 2011, and is currently hiring for more than a dozen positions.

Battlefield 3 and Frostbite 2 were both built by Stockholm-based EA Digital Illusions Creative Entertainment (EA DICE), the publisher's other Swedish studio. The branch was acquired by EA in 2006, and has shipped titles like Mirror's Edge and various Battlefield series releases.
