Command & Conquer browser-based MMO enters open beta

Newsbrief: Electronic Arts' upcoming free-to-play game Command & Conquer Tiberium Alliances is now in open beta, and available to play globally.

The game is a browser-based MMO based on the popular Command & Conquer franchise, and marks the first time the series has seen either a free-to-play or MMO adaptation. It went into closed beta in December, but this is the first time it has been openly available to the public.

EA was keen to stress to Gamasutra that the game is hosted on a standalone site, and is not a Facebook game -- an approach the company took with other recent free-to-play browser releases like Lord of Ultima and Tiger Woods PGA Tour Online.
