Eyetronics Behind Stranglehold 's Digital Yun-Fat, Woo

High-resolution scanning services and 3D model provider Eyetronics has revealed it provided 3D scanning for Midway’s Stranglehold, which was released in September 2007 for PC and the Xbox 360, and in October for the PlayStation 3.

Eyetronics says it flew its scanning team to Hong Kong to scan Chow Yun-Fat, the actor with whom Midway collaborated on the game, and traveled locally to scan director John Woo in his Santa Monica, California office for his cameo in Stranglehold.

The company, which recently expanded its operations to Canada, stated it also provided 3D scanning for BioWare’s Mass Effect and that it scanned more than 1,400 Major League Baseball players and coaches for the Sony/SCEA game The Show and 2K Sports game Major League Baseball 2K7. Eyetronics says its 3D scanning was also used in feature films including Ocean's 13, Rush Hour 3, and The Last Mimzy.

Says Eyetronics operations VP Nick Tesi, "Chow Yun-Fat and John Woo are well known international stars and their virtual characters defy the law of physics in Stranglehold, so it was critical for them to be perfectly captured. Midway allowed us unprecedented freedom in the 3D scanning process and trusted us to deliver world-class images.”
