NDL Announces Gamebryo Graphics Toolkit

At the Game Developers Conference, NDL announced Gamebryo -- a cross-platform 3D graphics toolkit and engine based on the company's NetImmerse technology. Gamebryo is a game development framework designed to support both artists and programmers.

At its core, Gamebryo is a cross-platform 3D graphics engine based on NetImmerse, supporting games for the PC, Xbox, PS2, and GameCube. The C++ API is optimized for each platform and allows programmers to access the hardware capabilities of each platform.

Gamebryo comes with an array of character animation tools, as well as a pixel and vertex shader system that lets programmers develop shaders, drop in or modify shaders from RenderMonkey, cgFX, or HLSL, or use the shaders that come with Gamebryo. Shaders are stored in a shader library that's available to the entire team.

Gamebryo comes with a set of 3ds max and Maya plug-ins to let artists create game content, preview the game on the target platform, tweak content for performance and visual quality, and export that content with platform-specific optimizations.

Gamebryo evaluation kits are available, which include everything you get in the product except the source code: tools, plug-ins, and libraries, documentation, samples, and demos.

Pricing begins at $50k for a single-use license on one platform. All licenses include full source code and are royalty-free.
