Korean developer SmileGate licenses UE3 for two projects
Newsbrief: South Korean online game developer SmileGate has licensed Epic Games' "Unreal Engine 3" for two upcoming projects.
Epic Games Korea has secured a number of big licensing deals with noteworthy game companies in the country lately,
including Neowiz (
Bless)
and NCsoft (
Blade & Soul), and others. Along with access to the engine, SmileGate will receive technical support from the company.
SmileGate is best known for creating
CrossFire, an online-first person shooter that the company claims has the highest number of concurrent users in the world. It's particularly popular in China.
Its two Unreal Engine 3-powered projects include one codenamed "Project T," an action-MMORPG; and another codenamed "Project M," a first-person shooter that SmileGate believes has worldwide appeal.
