The Man in the Cape highlights this week's Best of Indie Games

This week on "Best Of Indie Games," we take a look at some of the top independent PC Flash/downloadable titles released over this last week.

The delights in this edition include a snappy experiment in interactive fiction, a twin-stick shooter that boasts a quirky premise and an eclectic soundtrack, a physics-driven action game starring an unusually destructive feline, plus a new game pick from Indie Royale's recent Fall Bundle.

Here's some recent highlights from IndieGames.com:

Game Pick: 'Save Merlin The Pig!' (Leigh Alexander, browser)
"Set within modern-day Brooklyn, Save Merlin The Pig! will have you wandering into an expensive restaurant and confronting things like how your pork roast may once have had a Twitter account dedicated to it."

Game Pick: 'The Man in the Cape' (Anthony Nichols, commercial indie)
"As a superhero, The Man in the Cape loves to perch atop buildings and observe his surroundings. Unfortunately, one particular building owner has grown sick of his antics and has constructed a massive dungeon to punish roof-perching trespassers."

Game Pick: 'Rocketbirds: Hardboiled Chicken' (Ratloop Asia, commercial indie)
"Originally released for the PlayStation 3 in October of last year, Rocketbirds: Hardboiled Chicken is a 'cinematic platform adventure game' in which players must topple a totalitarian penguin regime using a wide variety of weaponry."

Game Pick: 'Clumsy Cat' (Dingo Games, commercial indie)
"In Clumsy Cat, you play as a cat who is left alone in a house full of breakable objects, and your task is to cause as much destruction as possible before your owners return."

Game Pick: 'Ninja Crash' (Team Devil Games, commercial indie)
"Dream.Build.Play 2012's second runner-up title Ninja Crash made its Xbox Live Indie Games debut this week, offering a collection of single-screen challenges inspired by games like Joust and Balloon Fight."

Game Pick: 'in Space' (Ysty, commercial indie)
"In Space is both a procedurally generated arcade shoot-'em-up and a match-three puzzler in which the puzzle pieces want you dead. The game offers unlockable upgrades for your ship and weapons, and includes four distinct gameplay modes."

Game Pick: 'AVSEQ' (Big Robot, commercial indie)
"AVSEQ is a deceptively simple game from Big Robot. Atoms fall from the top of the screen, and you must quickly link matching colours together before they crash to the bottom."

Game Pick: 'Sun Hop' (GamesFree, browser)
"A simple yet effective little browser-based title, Sun Hop is a cheery-looking game that will require you to do no more than move a globular black creature from one planet to another till it is capable of running rings around the sun."

Game Pick: 'Nessie' (Nature's Mothership, commercial indie)
"Nessie has an interesting premise that's more complex than the average Game & Watch clone -- players must help the Loch Ness Monster avoid being seen by humans while occasionally surfacing to fill a draining air meter."

Game Pick: 'The Visit' (Exotworking, browser)
"At first glance, The Visit looks very much like your average retro-inspired platformer. As the green-suited protagonist, it is your mission to get to your ladyfriend's house for what may well be a risque visit."
