Newsbrief: Sony has unveiled a new look for the PlayStation Store as a means to help PS3 and PS Vita gamers find what they're looking for in the online store more easily.

The company detailed numerous new additions to the store alongside the visual update, including a new smart search system with improved filtering, and options to search by price, genre and peripheral-utilizing games (such as those that work with the PS Move hardware).

Content for PlayStation 3 and PS Vita will also be separated rather than displayed all together, meaning those who only want to see PS3 titles can filter out anything for Vita. The new store update will be released on October 23 in the U.S., and October 17 in Europe.

A couple of screenshots of the new look store can be found below.

I like it too. Not that I hate the old look but it is not really cool to look at. It is missing an Indie section though.

As long as it is not as hell slow as the current one on the vita I'm fine.
The vita store feels nearly as 'smooth' as the Wii and 3DS one ... as if were back in the 100mb RAM days and 802.11b networkings on ISDN connections.

and it would be nice if ps mobile was introduced in all countries along the store update too. having it only in 6 of the XX european store countries is pretty weak (especially when it is available in germany but not the other german speaking countries for example)

It doesn't appear that it will come to Vita at the same time as the PS3. We're in for another awkward bifurcation of Sony's handheld and home consoles.

I hope they used an ergonomy specialist this time... the current store is a pain in the ass to navigate.
