Newsbrief: Ubisoft's Assassin's Creed III has gotten off to a strong start in the UK, as the title led UK sales charts last week and set new records for the popular action franchise.

Chart-Track reports that the game has seen the biggest debut of any Ubisoft title to date. The game's launch sales nearly doubled those of Assassin's Creed II in 2009, and the title outperformed last year's Assassin's Creed: Revelations by more than 117,000 units.

Assassin's Creed III has now seen the second biggest debut in the UK this year, behind EA's FIFA 13. That popular sports title held onto the number two sales position last week above new releases such as WWE '13, Football Manager 2013, and Need for Speed: Most Wanted. For the week's full UK sales charts, visit Chart-Track's official website.
