Into The Pixel Seeking Video Game Art Exhibition Submissions

Organizers for curated art exhibition Into the Pixel, now in its fifth year, have sent out a call for submissions for its 2008 collection. Into the Pixel bills itself as the world's only exhibition bringing together experts from both the fine art establishment and the interactive entertainment industry to explore video game art and honor video game artists.

Each year, a jury of world-class museum curators, gallerists, educators, artists, and interactive entertainment art veterans review submissions from video game artists from all over the world. Participating game publishers in the jury panel include publishers Microsoft Game Studios and NCsoft North America. Sixteen pieces are eventually chosen and hung in In the Pixel’s gallery before traveling around the U.S. and abroad.

Originally formed by the Entertainment Software Association, the Academy of Interactive Arts & Sciences, and the Prints and Drawings Council of the Los Angeles County Museum of Art, In the Pixel’s gallery debuts at the E3 Media and Business Summit this year, July 15-17, and will then open to the public at the “Entertainment for All Expo” (E for All) on October 3-5 at the Los Angeles Convention Center.

“Over the course of four years, we have seen submissions of some amazing art, and expect to see some tough contenders for the 2008 collection,” said Joseph Olin, president, Academy of Interactive Arts and Sciences. “The Academy and ESA are thrilled to once again showcase the artistry and creative genius of the men and women within the interactive entertainment industry and like years past, the selected pieces are sure to be impressive.”

Artists must submit their work by May 21, 2008, for consideration by the ITP jury. Detailed information and instructions on submitting artwork for consideration can be found at Into the Pixel’s site.
