Shadows of the Damned and No More Heroes developer Grasshopper Manufacture has been acquired by Japanese publisher GungHo Online Entertainment.

GungHo Online was founded in 1998, and is best known for hosting MMORPG Ragnarok Online, as well as numerous other Japanese online games.

The company noted that by combining Grasshopper's development team with its own online games management, the pair plans to release high-quality titles in the near future.

The statement from GungHo regarding the acquisition is relatively brief, and details such as how much money was involved were not revealed.

Grasshopper is currently working on action game Killer is Dead, due for release on Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3 later this year.

I'm not sure how I feel about this..but if they are forced to just focus on online games--I may be pretty disappointed. But really looking forward to Killer is Dead.
