However, Jorgensen backtracked on this sentiment during the Stifel Nicolaus 2013 Internet, Media and Communications Conference this week, as reported by Polygon.
You know, I think Nintendo's business was more [an] extension of their last console," he said, adding that EA is in fact working on games for the Wii U -- although not as many as for the Xbox and PlayStation consoles.
"I think what the consumer will find is a lot more powerful gameplay with the new boxes that are coming out, and a lot of excitement," he added, "but it'll remain to be seen as to the services associated with those as to how consumers decide which direction they might want to go."
Perhaps someone informed Blake that in a small closet in the basement of a nondescript building on the edge of a forgotten city deep in the desert of a land who's name no one remembers there's one lone developer that was assigned to "make something" for the Wii U many years ago, and in a bizarre twist of time and space, is inexplicably still on the EA payroll?
The most astute opinion about it I've heard is that Disney must have basically realized EA are refusing to put their newly purchased and hot off the presses Star Wars license on Nintendo platforms and must have made some rather angry phone calls. I bet they've got the jitters at having such a schizophrenic partner now.
That is actually a good theory. Star Wars is a very valuable franchise and Disney would want to maximize profits. Cutting the Wii U from the roster would hurt that profit potential.
I agree with Merc's theory as well. No matter what EA's attitude towards Nintendo is, Disney might not care about that and would be more worried about making sure that the Star Wars franchise is sold on as many systems as possible, so Disney would/will have the final say-so on EA's decisions when it comes to the Star Wars franchise. We are talking about a company that shut down Junction Point without giving it a chance to patch the different versions of Epic Mickey 2 as well as to create Epic Mickey 3, so Disney is not above screwing over with EA if it doesn't like what EA is doing with the Star Wars franchise.
Yeah, Merc, I see that as plausible myself.
As I said before, what EA stated before was weird, and open ended. And that is as good of a reason as to why that was so broad than anything that I have seen.
