Dean Hall is a soldier, a game developer, and now apparently an elite mountain climber. The creator of popular zombie apocalypse mod DayZ recently made it to the highest summit on planet Earth.

We just thought you'd like to know, because it's pretty impressive, plus he makes video games (and hey, it's Friday). Also, this is probably a good (if extreme) example of getting away from your desk, experiencing life, then perhaps applying that experience toward something creative.

Purely coincidentally, we have a nice interview with Hall up on Gamasutra today, about making DayZ.

Hall had revealed he would be taking on the climb about a month ago in the DayZ blog.

Scroll down for Hall's Tweet.

I, too, am a mountaineer, rock climber, and ice climber :) In fact, I climb with all software engineers. We have been all over the world together and saved one another's lives a few times... you definitely learn to appreciate risk, beauty, simplicity, and life.

That is incredible. Inspiring too, to think that you can keep improving your other talents/hobbies while becoming successful with your game making career. Congrats to him!
