Respawn's been working on Titanfall - an Xbox One game with mechs

An apparent leak of the digital edition of July's issue of Game Informer spoils a surprise from Respawn Entertainment that was probably intended for next week's E3 extravaganza.

On the Game Informer page of the Google Play digital storefront, you can see the upcoming issue’s cover, which displays a woman pumping bullets into a giant robot. The word “Titanfall” appears at the bottom of the cover.

Respawn has been a studio to watch ever since its founders, Vince Zampella and Jason West, went through a messy breakup their former employer, Activision. Previously, the two founded Infinity Ward, creators of Activision-owned Call of Duty. West reportedly left Respawn at some point due to family-related reasons.

While Google Play still shows the cover, the storefront wouldn't allow us to buy a digital copy of the issue. But a Neogaf forum-goer was able to capture some interesting snippets from the article. According to the forum post (which is unverified by Respawn or the game’s publisher, Electronic Arts), the game is only announced for Xbox One and PC -- no mention of PlayStation 4.

The game is also reportedly powered by Valve’s Source engine and it will rely substantially on cloud computing for physics and AI calculations. Another studio is reportedly making an Xbox 360 version.

The game is reportedly due to release in spring of 2014. We're working on trying to verify the details of the story.
