More: Alternative Funding

Hey readers,

Kris Graft, Gamasutra editor-in-chief here. I’ve got a quick heads up for you all. Today we’ve launched our first themed week, and plan on bringing you new weekly themes, once a month over the next few months.

This month, we’ll have a special focus on alternative funding, with interviews, news pieces, community blogs, videos and other editorial content that cover the latest ways to fund your game’s development. You can go to our Alternative Funding event page right here to read new and recent stories about the topic. (Don't worry, we're still covering the rest of the industry this week, too.)

“Alternative funding” isn’t limited to Kickstarter, though crowdfunding has played a major role in giving game developers more creative freedom than ever. This week you can also expect stories about government funding, alpha funding, incubators and more.

We also know that you might have an interesting story about how you got (or are getting) funding for your game project. Check out blog director Christian Nutt’s call for blogs for more information on how to share your funding experiences this week. (If you just want to get started right this instant, click here to start blogging now.)

Again, the page is right here, and will be updated with new content daily this week. I'm hoping these themed weeks will also encourage our community to rally around and contribute to conversations about specific topics. We've already received some really nice contributions from our bloggers.

Let us know in the comments if there are topics you’d like to see covered during one of our themed weeks.

Thanks for reading!
Kris Graft

I've heard several people say that Kickstarter/Crowdfunding only works if you bring a community to it. How about some "How to build a community for your Kickstarter" articles.
