When a new technology for creation comes along, having a community to collaborate with can be a key factor in pushing that technology forward.

That’s the idea behind Oculus VR's "Oculus Share" developer community portal, which lets Oculus Rift developers create, browse and download each other's demos for free.

With so many small projects cropping up, peppered randomly throughout YouTube and individual developers' websites, this is a good way to centralize the innovation that's happening around the Oculus Rift VR goggles.

On Oculus Share, participants can also rate work, and offer feedback to fellow VR developers.

Collaboration and sharing is only the beginning. In the future, Oculus Share will be a storefront, too. "Over the coming months we’ll work toward making Share an incredible marketplace for Oculus-ready games, experiences and applications," the Oculus team said in a blog post today.

Currently, there is an approval process for uploading VR content. Oculus said it will work to streamline the process to get more volume of content as time goes on.

The service is currently in beta, and requires an Oculus Developer Center account. For more information check out the Oculus Share website.
