When Square Enix relaunched its Final Fantasy XIV: A Realm Reborn MMO
last week, the company was forced to halt sales
as its servers simply could not withstand the vast number of players attempting to log in simultaneously.
A week later, and it would appear that these issues are not subsiding any time soon. As reported by
Kotaku, it's still next-to-impossible for many paying players to join the online game, and the game is still not yet back on sale.
As a result, producer Naoki Yoshida has assured players
that the Square Enix team is currently working to ensure that servers are maintained during full capacity times. The game has seen maximum concurrent connection numbers of over 230,000 users, he noted.
A number of new "Worlds" are due to be added to the game this coming Wednesday, he continued, which he hopes will fix many of the login issues that players are currently experiencing.
And as an apology to those people who have not been able to make full use of their month-long free trials of the game, the Square Enix team is considering extending the free service. More details can be found on the official forums
